✅ How does the Doctoral School manage the application?
Once the corresponding checks have been made to ensure that the candidate meets the requirements for access to the doctorate, the candidate's application for admission will be sent together with the proposal for tutoring/supervision to the academic committee of the corresponding Doctorate Programme.
The candidate will receive an email with the resolution of the procedure. The resolution could be:
- Admitted: You can enroll at the beginning of the new enrollment period, in the same academic year of admission.
- Conditional admission: You will receive information on what documents you must provide to be able to make your admission effective.
- Students who have not submitted all the required documentation or students who, if they do not meet the access requirements, are expected to have them within the deadline for enrolment, may be admitted conditionally. Exemple: master's degree certificate/diploma.
- If the candidate does not present the documentation within the indicated period, the request will be excluded.
- This admission will only be possible when the supply of places is greater than the demand.
3. Excluded: The reason for the exclusion will be indicated.
✅ Acces Places
5% of the places of each doctoral programme places are reserved for students with a recognised disability of 33% or higher. If these places were not filled, they would be offered to other students.
When formalising admission (or enrolment), students must provide a disability certificate, issued by the competent administration.
In cases where all the places offered are covered, a prioritised waiting list will be drawn up for the admitted candidates, in accordance with the published scales, who have not obtained a place. This prioritization will be carried out by each of the Academic Committees.

REQUIREMENTS
✅ Requirements for Access to Doctoral Studies
Check that you meet one of the following entry requirements:
- You have an official university master's degree or another Spanish degree of equivalent level.
- You have an equivalent foreign qualification (no prior approval is required).
✅ When must you meet the access requirements?)
The access requirements must be met when you apply for admission.
However, you may still apply if you are expected to meet the requirements during the enrolment period of the programme you are applying for (for example, if you will obtain your master’s degree by then). In this case, you must submit, together with the rest of the required documents, a certificate from your home university confirming:
- the credits you are currently enrolled in, and
- the expected date on which you will complete your studies and obtain your master’s degree or equivalent.
✅ Check the access requirements provided for by current regulations:
Students wishing to access a doctoral programme verified by RD 99/2011, must meet the requirements laid down in Article 6, amended by Royal Decree 576/2023, of July 4, which modifies Royal Decree 99/2011, of January 28, which regulates official doctoral studies.
Article 6. Requirements for access to a doctorate.
- In general, access to an official doctoral programme is available to persons in possession of a Spanish official bachelor's degree, or equivalent, and a university master's degree.
- Likewise, those who are in any of the following situations may access the programme:
a) Be in possession of official Spanish university degrees or equivalent Spanish degrees, provided that at least 300 ECTS credits have been passed in the set of these courses and accredit a level 3 of the Spanish Framework of Qualifications for Higher Education.
b) Be in possession of a degree obtained in accordance with foreign educational systems belonging to the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), without the need for its homologation, which accredits a level 7 of the European Qualifications Framework, provided that said degree qualifies for access to doctoral studies in the country in which it was issued. This admission will not imply, in any case, the homologation of the previous degree held by the interested party or its recognition for purposes other than access to doctoral studies.
c) Possession of a degree obtained in accordance with foreign educational systems other than the EHEA, without the need for its homologation, after verification by the university that it accredits a level of training equivalent to that of the official Spanish Master's degree and that it qualifies in the country of issue of the degree for access to doctoral studies. This admission will not imply, in any case, the homologation of the previous degree held by the interested party or its recognition for purposes other than access to doctoral studies.
d) Possession of another Doctorate degree.
e) University graduates who, after obtaining a training place in the corresponding access test for specialized health training places, have successfully completed at least two years of training in a program to obtain an official degree in one of the specialties in Health Sciences, may also access the programme.
